May I know the checking mechanism for the ios Provisioning profile? Is my Apple app distributed by MDM inside the organisation? If the Provisioning profile is expired , what is the behaviour when user run the App and how to perform the checking mechanism , is it performed at user client side device or Apple server via online access.

Hello, we are currently encountering a similar issue. We need to inject our capabilities into a third-party app by re-signing it (not a full re-signing process—just requiring the provisioning profile and certificate to match). However, this seems to affect the functionality of universal links. We've found that this issue only occurs on iOS 18.
We noticed that when re-signing the app, the entitlements related to associated domains are changed to a wildcard:
[Key] com.apple.developer.associated-domains
[Value]
[Array]
[String] *
However, this doesn’t cause any issues on iOS 17.
Through further testing, we discovered that in order for universal links to work properly, we need to restore the original value of com.apple.developer.associated-domains and use a provisioning profile that matches the app's bundle ID. This means our previous re-signing approach using a certificate and provisioning profile from another bundle will no longer work.
We’d like to ask: is this a new restriction introduced in iOS 18? If we manually restore the original com.apple.developer.associated-domains entitlement and use a provisioning profile that matches the app’s bundle ID, will universal links function correctly going forward?

I’ve been struggling with an issue related to the com.apple.developer.fonts-provided-by-application entitlement in Xcode. Despite configuring everything correctly, I’m still encountering an error stating that the fonts provided by application are missing.
Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve done so far:
Entitlements File:
My entitlements file includes the com.apple.developer.fonts-provided-by-application key set as an array with 28 font items listed (e.g., Lato-Bold.ttf, Montserrat-SemiBold.ttf, etc.).
All font names match the actual filenames, including extensions, and are spelled correctly.
Info.plist:
I’ve listed all the fonts under the UIAppFonts key, and they match the entries in the entitlements file.
Font Files in Xcode:
All font files are present in my project and included in Build Phases > Copy Bundle Resources.
Provisioning Profile:
The Fonts capability is enabled in my App Identifier in the Apple Developer Program, and I’ve regenerated my provisioning profile to ensure it reflects this entitlement.
What’s Working:
Other entitlements in the entitlements file (like keychain access and sandboxing) are functioning correctly, so the entitlements file is linked properly to my app target.
The provisioning profile shows everything else is in sync.
What’s Not Working:
Xcode consistently shows the error "missing fonts provided by application", even though I’ve verified the fonts, file paths, and plist entries multiple times.
Questions:
Could this issue be related to the placement of the fonts folder within my project structure?
Do I need to remove unused fonts or adjust file extensions (like .ttf vs .otf)?
Is there another step I might be missing in Xcode or the Apple Developer Program?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. This has been a challenging problem to resolve, and I’d love to hear from anyone who has encountered something similar.

I created a provisional profile from apple developer portal for my iOS app. The expiry date shown in the profile is 21-April 2026. However, when I build the app with this provisional profile the expiry date shown in the app is 11 Dec, 2025. My iOS distribution certificate expires only in November 2026. I see a embeded.mobileprovision profile inside the app, and it has an expiry of 11-Dec-2025. I did a clean build,, cleared unnecessary profiles from profile folder, created a new provisional profile and tried, but nothing seems help.
We have a few apps, and no other app has this issue. We do annual release of all apps together for provisional profile renewal. As this app expiry is different, it will cause lot of difficulty for us next year. Will you please help me to resolve this issue?

We are facing issue with resigning the app which is developed by 3rd party. In this app we have Sharing functionality feature for which we have enabled Associated Domains capability.
When we are signing the app with our certificate and profile this functionality is not working i.e when we are clicking on shared link in the app it is redirecting to app store page instead of content link.
However, when 3rd party is directly using our certificate & profile then that functionality is working as expected.
Could you please help us with the above issue why it is not working when we are resigning with our certificate and profile?
My team has developed an app with a Matter commissioner feature (for own ecosystem) using the Matter framework on the MatterSupport extension.
Recently, we've noticed that commissioning Matter devices with the MatterSupport extension has become very unstable. Occasionally, the HomeUIService stops the flow after commissioning to the first fabric successfully, displaying the error: "Failed to perform Matter device setup: Error Domain=HMErrorDomain Code=2." (normally, it should send open commissioning window to the device and then add the device to the 2nd fabric). The issue is never seen before until recently few weeks and there is no code changes in the app. We are suspected that there is some data that fail to download from the icloud or apple account that cause this problem.
For evaluation, we tried removing the HomeSupport extension and run the Matter framework directly in developer mode, this issue disappears, and commissioning works without any problems.

We have NFC capabilties enabled for our app ID - com.uob.mightyvn but our minimum deployment target is 15.0. We do not have an option deselect PACE from provisioning profile. Hence, the validation is failed for IPA.
Invalid entitlement for core nfc framework. The sdk version '18.2' and min OS version '15.0' are not compatible for the entitlement 'com.apple.developer.nfc.readersession.formats' because 'NDEF is disallowed'

But my client already enrol or they give me access of admin level.

Hello, We have an internal enterprise app. After the provisioning profile (certificate) expired, some employees' iPhones still retained the old certificate when updating the app, causing the app to fail to open. We’ve tried restarting and reinstalling the app, but the issue persists. Having each employee manually reset network or device settings would be too operationally costly. Since this involves a large number of devices, we cannot use Apple Configurator to remove and reinstall certificates one by one. Therefore, we’d like to ask if there is a more efficient, batch-oriented solution to quickly resolve the certificate residue issue. We’d appreciate any suggestions for large-scale deployment methods. I'll preface by saying I am new to MacOS development. I've struggled with this issue for several days and have nowhere else to go for help.
My MacOS app is an Electron build. It needs application-groups entitlement for IPC. But the developer portal, when generating the provisioning profile, always appends "groups." to the start and I am unable to remove it. This renders my provisioning profile invalid and causes my app to be rejected by Transporter because it is not supposed to start with "groups", but with my team identified for MacOS.
Maybe I can still use the provisioning profile as is, but I've not found any way to do that. So I'm stuck unable to deliver.
Any help with this is appreciated.
Last year I used the iOS Distribution Managed Certificate (Enterprise Program) to sign an App and to distribute it internally. The Cert is still valid until May 2026. But its associated Provisiong Profile (which is not visible in the Apple Portal, but within Xcode when you export your archive) expired last week. Until then it was impossible for me to somehow force renew the profile and that lead to the fact that my app was not usable for a day, because the renewal was done after the expiration of the old one.
Whats the whole point of the managed signing if can't influence the provisioning update. To be clear: I don't speak about the certificate - just about the profile.
Or am I using it wrong?
My company signed the application with enterprise certificate, the Provisioning Profile expired on March 20, 2025. Some iPhones didn't update the application before the expiration.
We have update the Provisioning Profile and repackaged application. However, these iPhones still can't use the application after reinstalling the new ipa. After opening the application, the screen is blank and then flashes back without any error prompt.
Restarting iPhone didn't help.

Is it possible for an iOS app to programmatically detect if its built for TestFlight/App Store distribution versus built for development?
The motivation for doing this is so that the app can detect if a push server should send pushes using the Apple production server or the sandbox server - when the app sends the push token to the server, I'd like it to additionally send an indicator to the server so the server knows which of the Apple servers to use.
Is there a way to achieve this?

I’m facing an issue with enabling In-App Purchases (IAP) for my iOS app, and it’s causing provisioning errors during the build process.
Issue:
• In Apple Developer Portal → Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, the In-App Purchase capability is checked but grayed out, so I can’t modify it.
• In Xcode, under Signing & Capabilities, I don’t see In-App Purchase listed.
• When trying to build, I get the following error:
Provisioning profile “BillionMines_Dev_Profile” doesn’t include the com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase entitlement.
• Automatic signing in Xcode fails with:
Xcode failed to provision this target.
What I Have Tried:
1. Verified that my App ID is explicitly defined (not a wildcard ID).
2. Regenerated and downloaded a new Provisioning Profile, ensuring it matches my app.
3. Confirmed that In-App Purchase is enabled in App Store Connect under Features.
4. Cleaned the build folder and restarted Xcode.
5. Manually added com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase to my .entitlements file.
Questions:
• Why is the In-App Purchase option grayed out in Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles?
• How can I ensure my provisioning profile includes the com.apple.developer.in-app-purchase entitlement?
• Are there additional steps required to fully activate In-App Purchases?

As of this morning, I get the following error message when trying to build on any of my Macs (including my desktop, as well as my CI/CD systems):
Provisioning profile "Mac Team Provisioning Profile: com.stairwell.Inception.Forwarder" doesn't support the App Groups capability.
When I check the identifier in the developer portal, it does show the "App Groups" capability, and the same group is selected as has been there before.
We have to build this project with Xcode 15, because we have another issue with provisioning profiles on Xcode 16, that I haven't gotten resolved yet.
To be clear - I built, notarized, and released a Developer ID build of this same project last night, and today it just fails to build.
I should have never switched to "Xcode managed Profile", I guess. Manually configuring all of this was annoying, but at least it worked.
I assume at this point, I'm just going to be regenerating provisioning profiles until the issue randomly goes away...
I am trying to build/deploy app to my phone however I get this message:
"provisioning profile doesn't include the currently selected device"
My developer account is pretty old one and used to be one the paid-version one. My understanding is that I should be able to deploy apps using free account but I don't see where I can add or delete devices....stuck in the loop over here! :-)
I've created support request via email but I don't know if that is being worked or not...four days since I put it in. I suppose my other options are new apple-id or pay $99 and hope apple pays attention then?

I am wondering what happens if the provisioning profile for the Notification Service Extension expires.
I have two types of apps:
An App Store-distributed app
An Enterprise-distributed app
Can someone clarify how the expiration of the Notification Service Extension's provisioning profile affects both cases? Will the extension stop functioning, or will it continue to work normally?

I thought this would be an easy question, but it turns out it's really not! In fact, it flies in the face of how the Apple ecosystem is set up. That said, I still need an answer to be able to inform our customers of what their app update options are.
The question: Does app store provisioning ever expire? Based on the very limited information I can find, it either expires in one year, two years, or never. Anecdotal evidence seems to indicate that the answer could be never, but I need to confirm this.
The use case: Some of our customers are very old school. They tend to find a technical solution and stick with it. As such, they do not update apps regularly on their field iPads. They generally only update when they are forced to. They use MDM to deploy the app, and would set the MDM not to pull updated apps from the app store when available, essentially keeping the same version of the app in use for as much as 3 years or more. If this were to happen, I need to know if the provisioning for the old version of the app will ever expire if they get it from the app store.
I know with an enterprise deployment of .ipa files via MDM, the app provisioning/certificate will expire after 1 or 2 years (can't remember which atm), but I can't find an answer about app store provisioning. Hopefully someone can provide me with an answer on this forum.

In an expo managed project which utilizes custom expo plugins, we're having trouble getting the keychain-access-groups entitlement inserted to our provisioningprofile for signing.
The provisioning profile we download from apple dev portal contains:
<key>keychain-access-groups</key>
<array>

<string>com.apple.token</string>
</array>
and this is not recognized by xcode for signing; an error is thrown:
Provisioning profile "ccpp" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.keychain-access-groups entitlement.
A matching error is thrown during EAS build.
So we need to find a way to modify the ccpp.mobileprovision locally and then sign the build using the modified ccpp.mobileprovision.
Or, we need guidance on the proper way to resolve this situation.
Questions:
why does the downloaded mobileprovision file have the keychain-access-groups key, and not com.apple.developer.keychain-access-groups? Both Xcode and EAS appear to demand the latter keyname.
when I use expo prebuild, I am able to see the following in the .entitlements file:

I am adding this entitlement using a custom expo plugin. However, the mobileprovision file downloaded from apple developer portal has no knowledge of this setting which is only applied through expo prebuild.
So what I am left with at the end is an entitlements file generated by my expo prebuild which has the correct setting, and a provisioningprofile downloaded from dev portal with an incorrect setting, and I don't know how to mend the downloaded provisioningprofile (incorrect setting) with my local entitlements file (correct setting).
