I have an application that uses Network Extension, and it occasionally triggers a kernel panic, resulting in a complete system freeze.

Network Extensions shouldn’t be able to cause a kernel panic; that’s one of the main reasons we moved this functionality out of the kernel. So, I recommend that you file a bug about this. Make sure to include a sysdiagnose log taken immediately after you reboot after the panic.
