Apple Carplay iOS 18 and Toyota

I made the mistake of downloading the new IOS for my Iphone 12 without thinking about the connection issues with Toyota CarPlay. Big mistake for me. Now I have a 1/2 connection to my new 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid AND my 2023 RAV4 Prime (both wireless connections)

I can make a call, but can’t connect through CarPlay to an incoming call; I can send a text but but cannot hear / see when a text is received.

I have the same issues with my iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18.2.1, and a 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE wired CarPlay connection. My car came equipped with a Multimedia Unit with built-in Navigation. It has a USB-A connection only. It is not equipped with a wireless CarPlay option like some of the newer vehicles on the market.

A wired connection to CarPlay on a 2024 Chevy Trailblazer worked perfectly with my iPhone and the same USB-A cable.

I have tried extensive troubleshooting on my own and troubleshooting with Apple Support with any resolution, for now, with the problem. The only thing left for me to do is to update the Multimedia Unit's software/firmware, if it is not up to date. I was very disappointed to find out that the latest Toyota updates for my vehicle were released on: Feb. 10, 2022.

Here is the link to Toyota Software Updates: [https://www.toyota.com/firmware-updates) Select a Vehicle from the drop down menu shown at the website.

If an update is available, you may download the software from this site to a blank 2 GB or above capacity USB flash drive using your PC or Mac computer, following the actions prompted on the site.

Best regards,

This started happening to me 1 week ago. 2022 Toyota Rav4 XSE Hybrid, wired CarPlay, though I was using a bluetooth adapter for wireless CarPlay at the time. iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18.2.1, though I was already running this when CarPlay went kaput.

I drove the car to a store using CarPlay and Google Maps just fine, turned off the car for about 5 minutes, and ever since then, no CarPlay.

I've removed the bluetooth adapter, tried many different USB cables directly, and nothing. My phone charges over USB no problem. I've tried all of the troubleshooting tips I can find, both on the iPhone and Toyota's infotainment system. Yes, I have turned it off an on again.

My system is up to date according to the firmware page @GreenEagle posted, if you can call 2021 up to date.

It's driving me bonkers, especially since I don't believe I've seen a single actual solution on the web. I didn't realize how much I rely on CarPlay until it stopped working.
